I keep a fire blanket and a fire extinguisher. I also have smoke alarms on all floors. I carry out fire drills shortly after a new child starts, and then every month so that all of the children in my care understand what they need to do in the event of a real fire.
Health & Safety Policy
Your child will be cared for in a clean, safe, secure and welcoming setting. I will provide an environment which will enable children to develop at a rate that is appropriate for their age and stage of development.
Appropriately furnished rooms are available for various activities. I have a playroom for general play, a lounge for quiet time and limited TV watching and a spacious kitchen for craft/messy play and supervised cooking. A travel cot will be provided upstairs if required with separate bed linen for each child. We also have a spacious fully enclosed rear garden with a range of outdoor toys including; a climbing frame, swing, slide, wooden playhouse, sandpit and a trampoline.

Sharp objects are kept out of reach of children

All outside doors are kept locked whilst I am childminding; keys are kept high up next to each door

A correctly stocked first aid box is available at all times

All visitors will be required to complete the visitors log

Smoke alarms are fitted throughout the house and tested regularly

Children will not be allowed to leave the house unless attended by myself or a nominated adult

Our home is a non smoking household and this must be observed by parents when they are on the premises.
