I am registered with the Care and Social Services Inspectorate for Wales and my registration certificate will be displayed in my hall for you to see. Registration with CSSIW means that both myself and my husband have undergone vetting procedures which include ‘Criminal Records Bureau’, Medical and Social Services checks. I have had a suitable persons interview at registration and will be inspected regularly by CSSIW to ensure I meet the National Minimum Standards for Childminders.
As a newly-registered childminder, I have successfully completed the CACHE Introduction to Childminding practice course. I am required to complete a first aid course which includes training in first aid for children and babies (including resuscitation) within six months of my registration. I will also be completing a Basic Food Hygiene course.
I am committed to further my knowledge in childcare and I will continue to study for the Level 3 NVQ in Children’s Care, Learning and Development.
I am registered by the CSSIW to care for 6 children under 8 at any one time. Of these 6 children, no more than three may be under 5 and normally no more than two may be under 18 months. I am also able to offer care for over 8’s providing their care does not adversely affect the care of the under 8’s. My registration allows 4 year olds who attend full time school to be counted as a five year old in relation to these ratios.
