Cheeky Rascalz is a private childminding business run by myself, Amanda Calloway. I am married to Neil. We have three children and we are based in Treuddyn in North East Wales. In the past we have used the much valued services of a local childminder and so understand fully the needs of a family seeking child care. We live in a 3 bedroom house which is equipped with all the necessary safety adaptations for toddlers and young children.
I hold qualifications in Introduction to Childminding Practice, Paediatric First Aid and Basic Food Hygiene and I constantly access training sessions to ensure my child care knowledge is up to date and to continue my professional development. In October 2014 I graduated from Glyndwr University with a First Class Honours degree in Childhood Studies to enable me to provide the best quality child care in my setting. I am able to accept Flying Start funding for 2 year olds and Childcare Offer funding for 3 and 4 year olds. In July 2011 I served a six year term as a Trustee of the Professional Association for Childcare and Early Years, a standard-setting organisation, promoting best practice and supporting childcare professionals to deliver high standards of care and learning. I continue to volunteer with PACEY as a member of their Volunteer Insight Panel.
I aim to work in partnership with parents to provide all children in my care with a clean, safe, loving, home-like environment where everyone feels valued. Respect towards self, others and the environment will be emphasised. Children will be able to participate in a wide range of activities such as free play, cooking, outside play, stories, dramatic play, creative art, music and much more. Preschool children are also taken to visit both the English and Welsh local parent and toddler groups to give them the opportunity for social interaction with a larger group of children and to experience a bilingual environment. Strong emphasis is placed on outdoor play and building a connection with nature. I am currently working towards accreditation as a Curiosity Approach approved setting where promoting curiosity, awe and wonder is developed. I am registered with Care Inspectorate Wales to care for 6 children under the age of 8, of which only 3 may be under 5 and no more than 2 under 18 months.
I hope that the information in this website answers many of your questions. However, I know that it will not answer all of them and so I would like to invite you and your child/children to come and visit our family.
